The pictures in this book are beautiful. The handicraft of some truly ancient jewelry pieces is amazing. What Pharoahs, Emperors, Kings and Queens wore are spectacular.Makes a great coffee table book.I bought this used. The condition described by the Seller was as it arrived. The book was in very good condition, no tears, folds, like new. I saved some good money buying used from at Amazon.If you go straight to the gems section at museums, if you stand in long lines to see special exhibits of jewelry from Indian moguls, Russian royalty, Faberge, Cartier -- go ahead ... buy this book.

Beautiful book, with tons of eye candy and great inspiration for jewelers. Very good explanations and background on the pieces.One very interesting feature of this book is that there are several images of the portraits of the original owners wearing the jewelry pieces which reference current photographs of the actual piece as it is today.Big book, with lots of beautiful pictures and interesting text. Good description of the materials used to create the jewelry.Recommended.

This is a great book on jewellry through the ages and already I been inspired to try some designs, based on the ancient pieces presented here. One can only look in awe at the "acquisitions" made by the 19th century explorers and hope one day common sense will prevail so that some works can make their way back to where they should be. In the interim I think we should be happy that such wonderful items are in one place where they can be viewed at leisure.

Wonderful coverage of jewelry throughout history and from all over the world; it's much more than I expected for such a low price! The pieces selected show such artistry and workmanship, and are very well-photographed (eye candy!). This is an awesome book that I will continue to enjoy for years to come, and highly recommend to anyone who loves looking at different styles and designs of beautiful jewelry.

I also borrowed this book from the library a lot. It has a lot of great pictures of jewelry from the past. With the techniques I learned from "Creating your own Antique Jewelry", I'm able to make a lot of the jewelry from this book. I've also found that a lot of people like the old antique jewelry. Great for sales.

Fantastic photos, prints. My only gripe: the content focuses mostly on western jewelry. It could be more comprehensive.

I got this book in hopes of preparing me virtually 100% for my exam -_-It has most of the info needed and covers all the basics in a nice manner. The practice problems are great. However, the exam is more advanced than what is presented in this book and I ended up gathering questions online to practice for the exam because this alone didn't do it. Good thing to have the practice CD but if you plan on taking the test, my suggestion is to look for specific 1z0-051 exam questions online as well.

This book is an Introduction to SQL level book. If you know SQL a little bit, you will get very little out of this book. The chapters don't go into detail and the questions seem to be dumbed down - they don't look like realistic certification exam questions. Although it is not a certification book, if you would like to learn Oracle SQL I recommend Oracle SQL by Example (by Alice Rischert). This is one of the best book on Oracle SQL and you will learn a lot from it - not just superficial certification SQL.

I purchased this book in preparation for the Oracle Database 11g SQL Fundamentals 1 Exam. While the breadth of the material is good as it covers every topic on the exam, the presented examples are extremely simplified and often present a concept in its most basic form. In addition, the exercise questions at the end of each chapter are much too simplified. I downloaded a practice exam from Transcender and was amazed at the difference in complexity between the questions and exams provided by the book and those from Transcender. If you are taking the exam, the questions in the book as well as the exams will not fully prepare you for the exam. I highly recommend purchasing additional practice exams from Transcender; they have the look and feel of actual Oracle exam questions. I did find the study text in this book extremely useful and would recommend it in conjunction with some other study aid.

The book covers all of the exam topics, but I wouldn't say that it gives you enough information to pass the exam. Be sure to find another study guide to complement this material. Overall, I would say that this is the book to get, when compared to others that are out there.

If you're interested in discovering more about taking control of your food and making it at home, you want this book. With the cost of proteins going up and the quality more often questionable than good, it makes great sense to buy good stuff in bulk, and butcher, cure, and preserve your own at home. It's not only pretty easy, it's a blast, and the tastes you'll build are night and day from store bought.

This introduction to smoking and curing is full of photos and some great basic information for the beginner. If you are interested in making your own bacon (super easy) or smoking a turkey (very tasty) this is a good place for you to get started.It is not an in-depth study of smoking and curing, to be sure. Other books go deeper into the chemistry, processes, and different smoking/curing approaches. But they are aimed at serious hobbyists or people considering smoked/cured meats as a business venture. For the guy or gal that wants to step up the flavor of food they make, not food they buy, this is a great little intro to the equipment and procedures used by most home smokers.I have both the hard copy and the kindle versions. Either works quite nicely and with Amazon's cloud reader, the less expensive Kindle version can work quite well if you don't mind reading it on your computer. I'll be using some of the recipes mentioned in the book.It is not the one and only book you will want on the subject, but it is a fine starter.

This is a great book, it covers all of the important aspects of curing and smoking that you need to know for home use without a lot of boring technical details that would only be important for commercial use, It's written in plain simple to understand English and is very easy to follow, it also has a lot of recipe's and pictures.

A handy book to have for people living in the country or for fisher people to smoke or cure their catch, please remember that the meat still needs to be cooked after you have salted or smoked it. And the small is a nice way to tease the neighbours. A great book and I highly recommend you get it while it's still in print.

This is one of those books that are good to have around, but it's not like it's exclusive/mystery information.The information in this book is searchable online, but it does have good tips and tricks, which is why I a giving it 4 stars.

This book is good for people who are just getting their feet wet in grilling and smoking. For me there was too much detail about grills and different smokers because most people that are moving up to the curing stage are already experienced smokers. Very informative though. Would definitely recommend.

I have been a pianist for the last 25 years, and my 5 year old daughter decided she wanted to learn. We don't have any instructors in our city, so I decided I could teach her in the beginning. I remembered using the Alfred books when I began lessons, so I was happy to see they were still in print! I ordered the Alfred's Basic Piano Course Lesson Book, Theory, and Technic (Level 1). They are meant to go together.The books are well laid out and simple for a child to follow. My 5 year old is an early reader, and with me, she has no problem following these books. They are illustrated and the print is large.The books will let you know when to incorporate the lessons from the Theory and Technic books, as the lessons taught will coincide and help build on each other.In the beginning, your child will learn the basics on reading music, but for the first half of the books, a numbered finger system will be used in place of a traditional staff. This is to build your child's ability to use their separate fingers correctly.If you are using this as a parent to teach your own child, my only advice is to go slowly and patiently. Make sure that the child understands and is using the correct technic before moving ahead. It is a simple book, but speed is not key. This takes time and practice in order to build confidence.This is the perfect first lesson book.

I have been teaching private piano lessons for 15 years and I am delighted with the Alfred series. This book specifically has quite a few songs that the kids will recognize. It starts by introducing the dotted quarter not, which is often difficult for students. It ends with great coverage of the primary chords, I, IV, V7. I love the approach Alfred takes to introducing those chords, then using them so much for the accompaniment. At first the kids are always very confused by it, but by the end of the book, they recognize them easily in all their pieces and can name them without any trouble. Be aware that some of the supplements in the series are substantially harder than the corresponding lesson book.

The Alfred's Basic Piano Prep Course book is the perfect addition for any new piano player. These basic piano teaching books are easy to follow, easy to read, and easy to teach. The pages are filled with a good use of white space. The book itself is made of good quality and I do not feel that they will easily deteriorate. I believe that these books by Alfred's Basic Piano Prep are the basic books for piano knowledge and a great place to start a beginner. I have already purchased other of the Alfred's Basic Piano Prep Course books and will continue to purchase from this publisher. I have also steered my student's toward purchasing their own sets of these books to help with practicing outside of the classroom setting. These books will definitely stay around in my teaching library for years to come!! I look forward to seeing what other prep books are written and how they supplement the current books!

I would call myself a beginner piano teacher, as I play the piano myself but have had no instruction as to how to teach others to play. I now have four beginner students, whom I have been teaching for a little over a year.I love the Alfred method. The four books: technic, lesson, solo/recital, and theory all seem to really work well together. The songs coordinate with each other, so for each new concept taught in the lesson books, the student has a warm-up, a solo piece, and some theory work to back it up. I find this to be very effective. It gives the students a chance to see several examples of each concept, and practice each new concept in different ways until they achieve perfection with it. It also really walks the teacher through each concept very clearly, giving definitions for musical terms and clear instructions for which songs go together. I feel like the order in which concepts are taught also makes a lot of sense.Overall, it's a good method for a teacher who doesn't know a whole lot about HOW to teach another person to play the piano!I currently have some of my students on this level, and others on the regular beginner levels. I love how all of the different levels are interchangeable, so gifted students can advance more quickly, and students who need a little extra reinforcement can stay on the lower levels. The map for how this all works is on the back of all of the books, which you can see on the book preview. So many great things about Alfred!

This product arrived within a few days of ordering. It was in pristine condition. I use this set of books because they are what my piano teacher prefers to teach from. Although the book says for later beginners, it should be a bit more specific. It is definitely not designed for adult learners (the songs are geared more toward children or adolescents). I do not mind so much, but others might. All in all a great buy. I recommend the seller. Delivered as promised and had a very accurate description of product. I am very pleased.

I have more than a full collection of Christmas piano books for my students. I have one young student who is currently in the Alfred B lesson book. It sticks mostly to the C position and does not introduce the Middle C position. I purchased this book specifically for her to have songs in her usual position. Turns out this book is completely in the Middle C position. I'll probably keep it because it has teacher duets, but I'd still recommend the Bastien Christmas books over this series. The layout is cleaner and the pictures are more enticing.

Great to have this book here! I like it! I was very satisfied when I purchased this book. This book describes so much about the behavior of spoiled people and their tactics. It also describes manipulation tactics and a different point of view that allows us to realize some people just aren't good. It helps to identify peoples motives and their underhanded ways to get what they want. It helped me put my finger on a situation that eluded me for almost 2 decades. That's how "Manipulation" I was about the wolf and how cunning they are. I liked this book and would recommend it everyone. I love it! Nice book!

This book will help you heal from any negative past relationships regardless of whether the relationship was romantic, friendship, employer, parent or a family member and can help keep you from entering into, enduring or continuing physical and emotional abuse. So, even a child/adolescent would benefit reading this book. When an employer's main focus was to get me to disclose issues in my personal life and then, she began to focus negatively on my personal choices, (non-work related), (due to my previous experiences), I was able to walk away before she could professionally cause harm. If I had read this book, I would have recognized the warning signs that I ignored during interview and would have refused the position. Thank you author for this book! I like it! Well done!

Well done! I like this one! The book suggests several approaches none of which jived with my personality, I am ranking it as Okay read as education of what approaches sales people might be using dealing with you. The first approach the author suggests is first asking for something outrageous, expecting a no response, and only after that asking for something that you really want. I did not like this approach based on how I would react to such flow of the conversation. When someone asks for something outrageous (especially a salesman trying to make a deal), I end the negotiations immediately. My time is too valuable to deal with someone who is not reasonable. Other suggestions such as establishing a similarity or using guilt sounded more likely to be successful. Wow! I love it!
