I do stress testing every (working!) day. Ellestad's last edition has been my Bible. This edition has given me much UTD info. So glad for it.

Very informative book and a much needed update from previous editions. It is well written and covers all of the topics that anyone who is interested in stress testing should know. It makes a particularly good job of bringing the reader up to speed on the latest state-of-the-art developments.Exercise ECG tests are still the most widely used first-line tests for patients with suspected ischemic heart disease, the leading cause of death worldwide for both men and women. Although guidelines recommend stress ECG tests, it is not rare to see cardiologists who prefer various imaging tests instead. A more comprehensive use of everything that ECG has to offer, as described in this book, can improve healthcare by minimizing risks for patients while lowering costs at the same time.

I got this for my dad, who's a photography buff and he really enjoyed the quality of the pictures.

Anyone who's been to Colorado and wants to remember it's beauty would love this book. The pictures are so well done. This is the kind of book you have sitting out or on display.

As usual, David and Marc Muench have published a fairly solid photography book. However, this is by no means their best book, and it's not even David Muench's best book on Colorado. It appears that Marc Muench took the photos for this book over the last few years, whereas David Muench's photos may have been leftovers that weren't included in 'Colorado II' (which was published before 'Colorado'). After seeing this book, I still rank Colorado II as the #1 book in my list of 'Best Colorado Picture Books' (which can be seen by clicking on my name), and I therefore recommend that book over this one.

The book has some stunning photographs but I am struck by the frequent clash between the photos on opposite pages. There seems to be no attention to balance in the assembly of photos in this book.

This book couldn't decide whether to be text book or a reference book. The lay out was confusing. I also found that there are factual errors in this book. They claim psoriasis is fungal which is plain wrong it is an Autoimmune disorder. It also refers to hyper-kyphosis and hyper- lordosis as just lordosis and kyphosis. Everyone has a kyphosis and lordodic curve! With these two obvious errors it makes me question the accuracy of the rest of the book. This book is neither a well laid out text book or a trustworthy reference book!

This was for my diseases class - course textbook. I found it to be a helpful introduction to diseases with adequate information to get a knowledge a bit beyond beginner in some places. When working with the chemistry of the kidneys and various glands, they went into more detail. It's an excellent book to educate the reader and either whet the appetite for more or rule out studying in this direction for the future. That's a good thing.It got 4 stars because there were a few items that were wrong, and I expect this to be better edited so everything is factually perfect. These were rare, though.

I am an RN taking medical coding classes and was very disappointed in this book as it was geared toward medical assistants primarily and was obviously slanted toward working in an outdated family practice office. This book had no references toward standards of care and was outdated even though it was the new edition. It did not really cover pathophysiology and did not follow the traditional body systems taught in anatomy and physiology that was the prerequisite for this course. I was so frustrated that I dropped out of the program even though I had a 95% average.

This workbook stinks. There is not rhyme or reason to the questions. You have to flip back and forth in the chapter to answer the questions with this workbook. It took hours to complete my workbook assignments. I was happy to be able to rent the textbook to this workbook. The book is horrible. Pages are thin, print is small and I pity anyone that has this text for Pathology. I got an A in the class; but I worked and earned it.

I’m not sure how many starts are appropriate for a book that I was forced to buy . Thanks college .

Book looks in good condition. Written and highlighted which is okay. They only thing that i didnt like and only giving 3 stars is because it smells like medicine. It doesn't smell much as the first time i got it. But everytime i open it it smells. Overall, good condition. I only hate the smell.

This book is by no means a traditional textbook. The layout of the majority of the chapters includes a brief summary of basic terms related to the chapter subject and then the rest of the chapter is a listing of diseases, codes, and etc. It is a lot of information and is not much of a "read". However, it does a great job of describing diseases and conditions.

I only received the textbook portion of this, only to be told by amazon that the workbook, which is a totally separate book is not a guarantee. So why am I paying $20 more for a combo package when half of the package isn't even a guarantee.

I will start by saying I have Bipolar Disorder, and have struggled with it for many years. I've had some time off recently, so I wanted to really investigate the science behind my disorder. I started with two books on mental health policy over the past 50 years ( "American Psychosis" for a negative take, and "Better but Not Well" for a more positive, mainstream take), then I read the latest psychiatric information about the disorder- the suspected genetic causes , the brain chemistry approach, the neurological evidence from the official peer-reviewed literature. I altogether found it unsatisfying. Everywhere I turned, it was always "While the specific mechanism is unknown, it is believed..." or "While specific genes cannot be found, it does seem to run in families..." Even the neurological explanation didn't seem able to distinguish cause from effect, or come up with any predictive mechanism. I began to really question the mainstream, so I read "Anatomy of an Epidemic", which was an excellent summary of all the research showing that the brain-chemistry model is ineffective. I even investigated my own medication, and found that Lamictal, the primary drug of choice for bipolar treatment, was found to be ineffective in 7 out of 9 clinical trials ( Of course GSK only published the positive two).All Thomas Szasz really says here is that we can't view mental illness, that is to say, the major mood disorders and psychoses, as normal diseases. We can't pretend that mental illness is some exogenous force that is totally irrelevant of the victim's life experiences, the victims traumas and tragedies, and the victim's behaviors. In fact, new research into the pscychosocial explanation finds very strong evidence for the importance of these things in predicting the incidence of mental illness. And if its true, as Szasz argues, that there is this very strong psychosocial element, then therapy to understand these issues and perceptions and to allow the patient to change behavior is the best option for treatment. Again, research shows the efficacy of Psychotherapy in general as well as CBT specifically.Finally, I can say he is 100% correct in his assertion that much of psychiatry is inhumane. Involuntary treatment, and even the attitude that certain ways of life are "right" and other ways "bad," are means of controlling people. They are a way for society to get rid of undesirables and call it compassion, and on the other side, an escape valve for the oppressed. A key piece of evidence for this is that "homosexuality" was a mental illness for a long time, something we would scoff at now; that was a means of social control, not a means of helping the patient. Healing can only occur in an atmosphere of respect and dignity, where the doctor respects the patient's rights and autonomy, and where the patient takes responsibility.The book is quite plodding at points, but if you skip his abstract explanations and jump straight to the examples he gives, it is very clear. While I'm not convinced that all mental illness is purely a construction, I think Szasz hits the nail on the head for the general direction Psychiatry has moved.

As a retired health care professional, I wish that I had read this book a long, long time ago. It should be standard reading in all health care professional training, and especially in any field related to mental health. Unfortunately, the mainstream powers that be will not allow that. I recommend that you buy this book in paper and give it to any health care professional you deal with. The life and mental health you save may be your own.

A renaissance man for sure. I learned a great deal from this book and other books by him. He also inspired me to write my own book " The Loss of Grace in an Asylum," which is an authentic account of the oppressive criminal nature of psychiatry at Marlboro Psychiatric Hospital in New Jersey.

Dr. Szasz presages a number of authors who wrestle with the various issues facing postmodern American society, especially those concerning how the dilution of meaning--that is, what constitutes truth in an objective sense--has impacted society in general. He also discusses how the misuse of broad definitions viz. mental illness have had the unintended consequence of misrepresenting and confusing bona fide clinical illnesses from those that are actually matters of moral and ethical judgment and choice. From Dr. Szasz's perspective, the postmodern attitude that "anything goes" is a chimera, an illusion. Postmodernism as a mindset has served to fragment society into factions with the conflict between individualism and collectivism taking front stage. I would recommend reading this book along with Kurt Andersen's book Fantasyland: How America Went Haywire (2017) to grasp the social identity crisis that is afflicting America in the present era, and that have been part of the American psyche since the Pilgrims...

Szasz once said that he is the only doctor in his field who hands were clean, because he never medicated any of his patients. Very illuminating read, this is one of those books that will change your way of looking at the largely pseudo-scientific field of psychiatry. A worldview changer of a read!

False advertising - Claims to have full-length practice tests, however, the multiple-choice questions are a joke. None of them will help you on the AP Exam. Whoever wrote this review book doesn't know what the AP exam requires. I teach AP Euro and was looking for more good examples of the new questions. There are absolutely none here.

AP European History Study Guide for 2019 is an excellent source of written study content and exam information. I found it well-organized and detailed. This book is highly recommended not only for high school through college students, but also for teachers in helping their students learn the history of Europe.There are several full-length practice tests, answer banks, essay samples, and essay practice questions. There are important dates and names listed and discussed to help students study what is required for this examination. I could not find a single thing wrong with this study guide. Overall, it was perfect!I received this copy from the publisher. This is my voluntary review.

The AP EUROPEAN HISTORY STUDY GUIDE 2019 is supposed to be a study guide to study for the AP European History text. The book does feature a fairly concise overview of European History from the Renaissance forward. At the end of the information section there are four multiple choice practice tests. As a brief overview of key European history elements, the AP EUROPEAN HISTORY STUDY GUIDE 2019 isn’t too bad. The book covers the Renaissance, the Thirty Years War, Napoleon, WWI, WW2, and several other major events. Important people and dates are covered, too. With that said, while the AP EUROPEAN HISTORY STUDY GUIDE 2019 does offer some basic information, it doesn’t do much to prepare a person for actually taking the AP European History test. The reason for this is that the tests that are offered aren’t formatted in the same way as the actual AP test is. In addition, while the book claims “detailed answer explanations”, the answers given are not very detailed. Overall, the AP EUROPEAN HISTORY STUDY GUIDE 2019 does provide an extremely concise overview of European history from the Renaissance to the present. However, the information given isn’t very detailed, the practice tests aren’t formatted in the same way as the AP tests, and the answers given aren’t very detailed. I would use this book only in conjunction with other AP European History tests.

You may question if you need a study book for this exam, and I can't really answer that for you. However, you would be wise to invest in one or more of these manuals if you want to maximize your score. If your reading this you are at least considering it, which is a good thing...So, why this book? If you want to review European History since the renaissance why not this book? It contains a concise overview of some of the major occurrences - The Thirty Years War, Italian and Northern Renaissance, important people and why you should know them (these are done in a sentence or two, which is something I really like), Chronology of the French Revolution, and many others. It really distills some of the key occurrences and the people who caused them for a several hundred year period.After the review section there are four multiple choice practice tests so you can test your knowledge. I generally like to take them 'cold' and then after the review take them again (Yes, I write the answers down on a sheet of paper to do this).I received a copy of this book from the publisher at no cost to myself with the hopes I would review it. I really like this book as I read and have studied a lot of history, but found there were things I did not know - or maybe remember. Recommended!

Good overview but I was hoping for something a bit more in depth for a history review book. If you're willing to dig a little deeper on your own, or don't feel like you need to go into the nitty gritty.

The review structure is excellent. Not overwhelming small fonts, at all. The information is easy to understand and there are many practice questions. I highly recommend it.
