About the Author

Having served in the nonprofit sector since 1969, author Richard King knows the nonprofit hiring process from both sides of the hiring desk. He is currently President of Kittleman and & Associates, LLC., one of the top executive search and management consulting firms that exclusively serve the nonprofit community nationwide. He joined Kittleman in 1985. Mr. King has been the chief executive officer for three nonprofits: Wholistic Health Centers, Inc.; the Illinois Youth Service Bureau Association; and Youth in Crisis, Inc. He has served on boards of directors for several nonprofit organizations and consulted with dozens of nonprofits across the country on issues of governance, board development, long–range planning, fund raising, program development, and personnel appraisal. A resident of Oak Park, Illinois, Mr. King was born in 1944 and grew up in Eureka, a small Central Illinois town. He and his wife Cheryl have two grown children, Megan and Cory.

 Devil May Cry: 3142 Graphic Arts is the companion for the Devil May Cry series that fans should not miss out.It was originally published in Japanese in 2013 and this English edition is translated by Udon Entertainment. It's a large format 224-page paperback artbook with low gloss pages.This book serves as a visual companion and artbook. The concept art comes in the form of character and creature designs and environment art.The arrangement of content follows the chronological order of the story.. It starts with the third game, followed by first, fourth and second. Hence the 3142 in the book title. DmC Devil May Cry that was released in 2013 is not in this book because there's already a dedicated artbook just for that game.The artworks in this book consists of game stills as well as hand drawn art. It's about 50-50 game stills versus illustrated art. The character cutouts from game stills are used in the character profiles with provided background. The sketches and coloured illustrations are accompanied by artist commentary. The fourth game features predominantly drawn art and that also happens to be the section that I like best. I prefer looking at the artist interpretation than at the stills which you already can see in the game.In additional to the art from specific games, there's also an extra chapter with art from guest artists. You'll get to see art from Ikeno (Darkstalkers), Hiroaki (King of Fighters) and many more. This chapter has more sketches, includes the line art, character model sheets, weapon design and art of cameo appearance.Downsides of the book would be the use of too many game stills for the first three games and the small print size of the environment art.For those who want to learn more about the game and staff, there are more than 20 pages of interviews at the back of the book. The book is a collection of illustrations and images for the first four games in the Devil May Cry franchise. The book contains translated materials never before released in English. The last chapter contains interviews with several people involved in the development if each game.The book is a gold mine of information and art. Devil May Cry 2, especially, never had it's concept art released anywhere in the world and the other games have had a lot of the information here only available to Japanese readers so this is a treat for DMC fans that quite honestly, we should've gotten years ago.For the most part the book is great but it does have a few flaws.The print on the interviews and the illustrations is pretty small. It's not an issue with the tag under the illustrations but in the interviews in the back of the book they can be taxing on the eyes.Most of the commentary seems to be from memory rather than what has already been written in each game's respective artbooks. This isn't so bad for the later 3 games but the original DMC gets the short end of the stick since there is only commentary from a small part of the staff that worked on it and they can only remember so much after all this time. It would've been better to include the material from the original art book, which was more recently to the game's release.On that note, there are some key people missing from the book, like Hideki Kamiya (director of DMC1, Resident Evil 2, Okami, and Bayonetta), Shinji Mikami (DMC1 producer, RE creator and director of RE 1, 4, Zero, and Dino Crisis.) or Hiroyuki Kobayashi (Producer of DMC1 and 4). While the perspectives of the people that ARE in the book are insightful there are more key people that one wishes had participated or at the very least to have the material from previous art books been presented in this one.The Japanese release of this book had sleeve cover which is the cover for this release but the cover under that sleeve was pretty cool so it's a shame it couldn't be transferred to this publication.Other than that the book is nice, thick and sturdy. I made sure to look at every page in case one of the prints was off but it all checked out fine. the content is fantastic and the interviews are full of behind the scenes information you can't get elsewhere. It's a great buy for all DMC fans and one hopes that there might be other DMC art books translated in the future since they are full of information only Japanese readers get to know but that didn't get to make it to this particular release.

As an avid Devil May Cry fan, I love this graphic arts book! I learned a lot about DMC and the why they picked the character/clothing styles that they did. I also saw some characters that I wish had been included, but oh well. My only complaint is that there seem to be some inconsistencies. 1) At one point, the commentary states that Sparda killed Mundus, at another it says he sealed him off into the demon world(so, not killing him). 2) It also says that Nero's arm "transformed" into the arm it is now, when it's common knowledge that his arm was the result of an injury he received while fighting demons. Hence why his arm was in a sling and why Kyrie told him that his arm wasn't fully healed/he wasn't ready to fight in the beginning of DMC4. 3) It also stats Dante is in his 40's, yet Dante's own voice actor Reuben Langdon said he was in his 30's(and was told so by Capcom). 4) It states Nero is Vergil's son. Although this may or may not be true, I have serious doubts that Capcom, after 8 years of being pestered for an answer to Nero's lineage, would only announce his lineage in a graphics arts book. These were just a few of the odd things I noticed. Other than that, this product is a great addition to my collection!

If you have followed the stories of trial lawyer Thaddeus Murfee as I have in John Ellsworth's series of novels then you'll certainly enjoy this latest one from this experienced and talented trial lawyer/author.In it Thaddeus returns to his home in Orbit, Illinois to help his mentor and best friend with a serious legal problem. Coming full circle through a history that brought the young professional up from the country roots from which he sprang to becoming a very rich and well regarded if not famous lawyer operating out of numerous locations across the country, he goes back home to try to return the favor to the man who helped launch his career and first practice.His entire real and extended family return to be a part of this engaging story of murder, lust, jealousy, and intrigue. Through tribulations in all facets of his life, in addition to the trials inherent in all of the Murfee novels, Thaddeus struggles to be a positive force for good in both his personal and professional dealings.Beyond highly recommending this title, I recommend that if you have not already, start at the first book in the series and read through the entire history of this richly drawn character, his family and associates. You'll not regret it. Certainly Ellsworth is one of the best legal thriller authors out there, period.Full disclosure, I am on the author's mailing list and was offered a copy of the book two weeks before it's release. While reading the book, I found some typos and missing or extra words and sent the list to the author. He was grateful and generous enough to mention me in his acknowledgment section, for which I too am grateful. However, in no way has that influenced my review. I had even preordered the book prior to receiving the advanced copy and found no reason to cancel the order as I prefer to support the author. I have never met the gentleman, although I would welcome the opportunity. So, again, read these books if you want to really enjoy a series of great legal mystery/thrillers.

Although this is the latest installment of the series, the books can be read in any order with understanding and enjoyment.The latest book is complex with fully developed characters. Thaddeus Murfee is the attorney you wish you had on speed dial. He is smart, caring, diligent, and orders all the resources needed to develop a case. Christine Sussman also joins him in this case. Christine is former military, former paralegal (for Thaddeus), now an attorney with her own practice. I was partway through the book, and thinking, "I wish Christine was in this story." Then she appeared!The District Attorney, Killen Erwin, is not particularly likeable, but he is understandable. He is a small man in stature, and was formerly a jockey, until he had a bad ride on "Betty's Erotic Handicap", a thoroughbred that caused him to suffer a neck injury, and loss of an eye. His next erotic handicap was his wife, Mary Roberto, who cheats with any man that moves into her range, and flaunts her infidelities, leaving her husband to care for the children while she cavorts.The story has many twists and turns, and complicated issues. Friendship, love, poor judgment, breast cancer, and traumatic brain injury. All are incorporated into the story in a way that increases understanding in a feeling as well as intellectual way.The characters are well-developed and multi-dimensional. The story is complex, but not in a "makes my brain hurt puzzling" way, but in a full informative, thoughtful, and emotional understanding way.Other reviewers will recap the story line, I didn't want to do that, but to give you an idea of the experience of reading the book. This is a fantastic latest installment of the series.

I will not do a synopsis of the novel because it was done many times. I will however state the reasons I was so disappointed.I have read a few of John Ellsworth novels so l was taken aback by how differently Thad Mufee was portrayed. He speaks in a vulgar and unfamiliar way . For example he says: "so she's still sniffing around bars looking for a stiff dick" and in an other text he describes Dave, a womanizer as a " Pussyhound". That kind of language is necessary when it suits the character and situation, but NOT coming out of the mouth of the distinguished lawyer, Thad Mufee.Another big disappointment was the ending. Without giving it away, I thought that it was not only surprising but totally unbelievable and unrealistic....completely out of character and far fetched.....almost laughable. To me it was botched. It ruined what could have been a decent court case.

So many layers to this story, yet each one linked to the other. So many strands that are neatly tied in the end. Justice prevails, that is true, but it is much more than mere justice prevailing. The way these strands are tied together gives a much better sense of the moral dilemmas we are faced with, and how we respond to the choices others make when facing the same dilemmas.Is justice fair? Depends on who you ask. Did each of the characters get their just reward? Depends on how you feel about each one. The characters are well defined and they make the story very plausible. Each one adds to the whole until the jigsaw is complete and the full picture is revealed. This book grabbed me from the first words and kept me riveted until the last word. I could not put it down. There were a number of twists and turns I never saw coming, but I delighted in each one. Intrigue abounded! The relationship between Finn and Maggie was perfect. This book is definitely one of my all-time favorites from any author. This is Margaret Malory at her best!

I just reread Margaret Mallory’s entire catalog while eagerly awaiting the release of Kidnapped By a Rogue and it was worth the wait! Love Mallory’s writing in general, particularly the incendiary chemistry between her characters, and Margaret and Finn are no exception! Also related personally to Margaret’s struggle with infertility, her feelings of inadequacy, and her despair that she would never fulfill the dream of having her own family. Mallory always manages to strike the right balance between her hero and heroine’s emotional development, action, and romance, which can’t be easy. My only possible complaint is that this is my least favorite Mallory book cover. Maggie and Finn forever!

fabulous read! another winner from the great Margret Mallory. This combines likeable characters with a few interesting plot twists. You don't need to read the prior books in the series, either, although one of the prior characters does appear. The heroine is an abused wife, set aside by her nasty husband when her families' political fortunes change and the hero is a younger son, without fortune trying to establish himself in the world.

Loved Finn and Maggie in this book. So many twist and turns to this story! Lots of interesting characters all were well rounded and interesting, The sexual relationship did not happen right from the beginning. Margaret wanted to escape her brothers plot to find her another husband who could further their own interest. Finn was ordered to kidnap her in order to prove himself to his clan. To Finns surprise Margaret comes with him willingly. .Her plan was to travel with him, only till she could find a way to get to her sister's. As they travel they grow closer and find themselves falling for each other. Very good page turner that kept me up late.

This third book in The Douglas Legacy is excellent. There is deception, murder, political intrigue, and much more. The love story between sweet Margaret and Finn, the rogue, is sweet and unexpected. After so much scheming and manipulation by powerful forces, Margaret and Finn fall madly in love and are able to survive all attempts made against their lives. This book is full of action and will keep the reader engaged from beginning to end. It was worth the long anticipated wait!

Margaret Mallory was an author I just happened across a year ago and since I have loved her highlander series. This latest edition was no disappointment! I loved Margaret and Finn's story. Margaret grew from as a character into a strong women. Mallory does a fantastic job of using history that she has researched as the background of the story. I would suggest this book for anyone who likes historical romance novels with strong leading characters!

Book #2 & 3 I gave only 3 stars as again as with book two, the stories are buried under so many clans. I wrote down 11 different clan names from book three i.e. Moray, Sutherland, Murray, McKinzies, Sinclairs, Drummond, Douglas (this has merit as did Gordan), Kennedy, MacKay, Huntly, and Glamis. I just finished this book and I can only tell you three of the names and what they meant to the story. I realize there were a lot of clan fueds, but maybe not for one book. As for Finn and Margaret (Maggie), it was a good story if I hadn't had to go back through the book to figure out who someone was who was mentioned maybe twice. If this Miss Mallory's writing style, perhaps an index of all the clans names she uses and a brief explanation of who/what they are the book. This is ONLY my opinion of being too "busy". I do appreciate her use of the romantic scenes between the couple's as some authors go way overboard and so often it gets boring. Not so with these three books. I HIGHLY recommend reading this series as she has a fresh take on the story line and keeps it interesting and different and it flows right along to where you want to turn that page, or stay up reading to see what happens. I really enjoy the style; just index the clans. Happy Reading!

It starts with a horrible depiction of a horrible husband. In the long run it was good Margaret was rid of him. But she almost lost her life. Then her ridiculous brothers want to use her for their own purposes. With family like that who needs enemies. To top things off Margaret is kidnapped but not before she adopts an adorable girl who's father....well, I won't go into what happens next. There is so much adventure, murders and highland fighting that I just read until I found myself at the end. Maggie and Finn find their happiness. Great read.
