I have great respect for Mr. Stoneciper and really wanted to read his story. The company he founded is unique and has helped save me so much money over several years that I decided to join the company (now LegalShield) and help other people with their legal problems. Our constitution says "... AND JUSTICE FOR ALL." However, justice only applies if you have enough money to pay a lawyer. With this company, for a small amount monthly, anyone can have access to a lawyer when they need it.

There isn't really much action in this one, but the part with Twilight really hit me in the feels. I mean , he's the one and only rap god (gangsta level) of the tree! And he was almost killed off! Who else can say that they've A) rapped in every fight scene, and B) overdoses owl cuss words? (the awnser is me, I do.) The funniest part is when Coryn and the Band come back and it's like, woah, while I was gone everything the tree stood for was tarnished! I mean, he even said that (in my mind) the jail was unconstitutional, the Guardians of the Guardians were too redundant, and that the Ember of Hoole was the biggest slave owner on earth, so he got rid of all 3, no joke! Overall, I'd say 9/10, I thought Twilight was dead.

As an educator and parent, I am a fan of this author's broad range of books. I knew I would enjoy whatever Lasky would add to my knowledge of the historical period, but I did not expect to be so completely caught up in the story-especially as I have never even ridden a horse. Estrella became as real to me as any human character and at the triumphal ending after such realistically portrayed hardships had been endured, I wanted to cheer out loud. Vivid, poignant. Writing for this age group at its best.

Lasky is one of the authors for whose work I always search.She has an uncanny sense of and for animals -- their thoughts, etc. I find this sensitivity remarkable. I was totally caught up in the story and plot line of Horses of the Dawn and I look forward to Book 2. I will definitely be putting this on my list that I create for teachers and parents. It is beautifully written; action is fast paced; packed with historical details; and has a stated "philosophy that humans should follow. If you are looking for a great "theme" based book, I think you might have found it here.The Reading Professor

Fictitious, but interesting. Chronicles Marie Antoinette's journey as a naive 14 year-old to her metamorphosis into the Queen of France. Captivating as the narrative "voice" emerges more sophisticatedly over time.

This book was presented to us in a padded envelope. The condition is New. Nothing torn, nothing stained and no discoloration. There is no need to be concerned with the seller. I received exactly what I had hoped for my daughter to write her essay. This was much less expensive than purchasing at a "brick and mortar" store and the library only had one copy - which was already out to loan.Buy with confidence.

Recommend for ages 10+ and the entire royal diaries series is awesome.Kathryn Lasky has several good reads. Highly recommend you look her up.

I purchased this prior to an Alaskan vacation, knowing that I wanted to see the scenery close-up and in-person. This guide lists lots of hikes in the Southcentral Alaska region and includes diificulty ratings, distances, and best season for hiking. It also included much additional information such as if the hike was suitable for children which I found very useful. The only thing I would have liked that wasn't included would be more about the hiking trails within Anchorage itself. But the city - understandably - probably doesn't meet the author's definition of "wilderness". I would recommend this guide to anyone visiting the area.

Super wonderful book. It gives you a lot of information about when is the best time to explore where and how to get there.

This was a gift for my niece...a good update and a must for southcentral Alaskans that like to hike in our beautiful state.

South Central Alaska holds most of the population and recieves many of the visitors to Alaska. It also includes those parts of the Alaskan wilderness most accessible to the average hiker. This guidebook is designed to provide both residents and visitors with a selection of hiking possibilities spread across the Anchorage Bowl, the Kenai Peninsula, the Matanuska Valley on the way to Denali, and the Copper River Basin on the way to the port of Valdez. The hikes range in challenge from those suitable for the merely fit to those intended for the extremely fit.The book is broken down first by general geographic area and then further into a description of each hike. Information provided includes distances, estimated travel time, elevation change and a difficulty rating. Descriptions include how to get to the appropriate trailhead and sketch maps for the actual route. The book has a good selection of photographs that provide a sense of scale for the terrain. An introductory chapter discusses the hazards of hiking in Alaska, including the weather and the wildlife.This guidebook is highly recommended to the resident and to the visitor for an informed choice on where to hike in South Central Alaska.

I got this as a birthday gift prior to moving up to Alaska. After a year of hiking and consulting this book about available hikes, I would say this is a great resource for hiking the Chugach. It doesn't provide the best maps in the book itself, but the trail descriptions are really well done. Defintely a reference for the bookshelf!

This book is a joy for all us affecienados of the 50's TV westerns. It is just packed with info on these people that baby boomers saw during the Golden Age of the TV Western. Although there are lots of illustrations, not every entry for an actor has their picture. So if you don't know the actor's name and you knew him only by face, it's a limitation. However, this is only with lesser known players. I highly recommend this book.

Good content but very poor quality binding, multiple pages fell out the first time the book was read.

The thoroughly researched book is almost 600 pages. But no pages are wasted. The feeling you get reading this book is one of amazing depth in what made some of our Television Western icons worldwide figures.Each entry and subject in this book is described in great biographical detail and family details, accounts of how the subject first broke into show business as well as details of roles played. The author even delves into what co-stars even thought of the stars featured.The appendix lists 84 television westerns with dates, show times, themes, and stars. But the book doesn't just showcase some of the big westerns like "Gunsmoke" and "Cheyenne." They go into some series long forgotten or more obscure ones like "Laredo" and "The Lawman." No one is left out of this amazing book. What I like about this tome is the fairness the writer offers in his opinions. You get the clear idea that he's a huge Western genre fan, but you can't get a clear look at who his favorites were, because he covers them all with in depth knowledge, research and respect.Chuck Connors is also featured in the book. The star of "The Rifleman" was always one of my favorites. The author found some one of a kind and very rare photographs/stills for his tome and each person is adequately covered in an era that is best known to Historians as the golden era of Television. Some of the stars made their way from films, but many were just out of WWII and were looking to make a career in Television and Entertainment and some like James Arness, did so with gusto.The almost encyclopedia style is not boring at all, as I had been concerned it could be. It's filled with great details and fascinating stories. This is a must read for anyone who has ever been a Western TV fan or wants to know more about this golden age of Television.

This book has provided excellent reference for two TV Western buffs. Quite comprehensive. Dealer was swift with delivery, great packaging, fine value and quality. Much to recommend. A++
