Planning a trip to Algonquin this next summer. Great place to start. Would also be great if you have been there and looking for other options.

This is identical to Blackflies and Brook Trout. Don't buy them both

The one complaint is that the timelines are way too pokey. My one-armed grandma could make these trips in shorter time.Nice Algonquin info though -and he's right. The campsite on the beach on Crow Lake is amazing.

Great book. It provides a lot of detail and very useful for planning trips of different lengths and degrees of difficulty. I recommend this book to anyone planning to canoe in Algonquin Park.

not as informative as I would like

A lot of talk but not good as a reference book for what to take on your trip.

We bought this book last year at the Algonquin Visiters Centre. After reading it from cover to cover we agreed on a four day canoe route for our family. We just got back from that canoe trip. Wow did we have a great time! Without Kevin's book we were clueless about planning our first family canoe trip. After all, Algonquin is 3,000 square miles of wilderness.Because the book is so well written and interesting it was easy to read cover to cover. It's more that a list of canoe routes. Each section is full of interesting park history and stories. The information was very accurate and useful.

I was surprised by just how well this guide explained the different popular canoe routes. Even my father who is a veteran Algonquin canoe camper was unaware of some of the trails you can take. I would recommend this guide to novices and veterans of Algonquin alike.

Aphrodite has a lot of interesting stories. The story of Cupid and Persephone should have been included. Her relationship with Ares I would have liked to have seen more of. We didn't see much on Adonis. I was happy to see a story about Pygmalion. Ironically, Adonis is according to Ovid a great-grandson of Pygmalion's. Aphrodite is a hard Goddess to cover, because there's a lot of information on her. I would have liked to have read the more interesting stories about her.

My teenage daughter requested this Kindle Book book, believing it would provide some background information on Aphrodite but she says its more of a children's book. She takes responsibility for not reading the description closely. She says it's a nice book but just not what she was looking for.

This book is a fantastic deal for such an exceptional quality book (this is my translation of what my 9-year-old son said "this book is so cheap for being so good!"). These are instant favorites for my 3rd grade twin boys and are a great supplement for their love of the Percy Jackson series. Great, super speedy, delivery of high quality books.

I liked how the author handled the conflicting origins of Aphrodite, however the content was way too short to warrant the price. Many tales about Aphrodite were left out, and the ones that were covered were just short comic strips. Not really what I had hoped for but still entertaining after a fashion.

Amazing. We own every one of the Olympians book. We're big George O'Connor fans. I wish for 2 things. 1) That George O'Connor would do a yearly drawing workshop at my local Brooklyn comics books store. He is such a natural teacher and we had a blast when he did a workshop to introduce the collection a couple of years ago. I also wish Amazon.com would allow people to suscribe to winning collections such as this so I don't have to check every 6 months to see if the new book has come out!

They've all read the Percy Jackson series, but this is a great way to introduce more traditional Greek Mythology stories. My students raced into my classroom every day during our Mythology unit to grab their favorite to read. I highly recommend them and they approach the more, ahem, questionable of the gods and goddesses activities in a clear yet age appropriate manner. I'm slowly collecting a hard cover set that will hopefully fare better than the paperbacks for years to come.

This was an awesome graphic novel and it was in good condition when it arrived. I recommend this graphic novel to those who like Greek Mythology.

Our son loved this series!!!

I like the book but I think I ordered the wrong version. There aren't a lot of exercises for the culture lessons as in an older book I once had. I think there may be a review text instead of the workbook that I ordered. If you are looking for a book with more than just a couple of activities for the culture lessons then this is not the book for you. The grammar lessons are as most amsco books go though.

The book is very well structured. Every chapter is a new subject of grammar and starts with an explanation of the subject in English (-er verbs, -ir verbs, etc.) The book can be used for adult first-year students in a classroom. In addition, it can also be used afterwards by students to review grammar. Every chapter includes many exercises and the difficulty level increases with each exercise.

I purchased this workbook to use with my son (age 13) to supplement our home school curriculum. I speak French fluently - so that helps - as this book really covers a lot of ground. I think it could be used for at least two years - not just the "first" year. I especially like the cultural, geographical and historical chapters in the back. For the money - I think it is a good deal. But be forewarned, it is NOT a textbook. Ideally you should also use something like Rosetta Stone and lots of library materials as well.

The best thing about this study book is its cohesive and logical organization. It's a platform learning methodology and it drills you in each step so that when you move to the next step, you feel prepared and ready. Also, it challenges you by throwing in, every so often, new terms that you have to look up in the back of the book. However, their small dictionary is easy to navigate and it's all there.I highly recommend this book and strange as it may seem, I find working in this book relaxing, because it doesn't confuse you and its very logical. I'm moving through the book at a rapid pace and enjoying every exercise.

OK with some good info but little on Mastodons

Just what I needed at that time! A good book! I would recommend this book!

I Have Adrian Lister's other work; 'Mammoths, Giants of the Ice Age,' and it is a very good book full of useful knowledge from 2007. The QUESTION I have is what makes THIS book a BETTER book, as in, what new, or additional information does it contain, and SPECIFICALLY, what does it have to say about the MASTODONS, which these days appear as the 'red-headed stepchildren' of the mammoths, and no-one wants to to talk much about them, although they have at LEAST as much significance as the mammoths, and a far more diverse evolutionary trail. So TELL me that I will receive some solid info on the mastodons, as WELL as the mammoths, and I will buy this book, but not before!

As a lifelong coin enthusiast, I finally decided I ought to delve into coin folders of my own. I had tried the Whitman folders, but I didn't really like them and had, as other reviewers suggested, tried Harris folders. It's easiest to describe the experience I've had with them via a lost of pros and cons:Pros:-Looks quite professional, and I'm a fan of the cover-Spots for pennies from both Denver and Philadelphia mints-Includes spaces for all seven 1982 pennies (the year they released both copper and zinc pennies), and eight spaces for the four coins released in 2009 (D and P)Cons:-Can be a bit hard to get coins into the slots, and can hurt fingers to do so-Pressing too hard on them will make the folder crack.All in all, I am satisfied, but I do wish it was made of a heavier material that held up better to the wear and tear folders of this nature will experience.

i found it hard to put the coins inside this album!this album there is a total of three flaps that you open.the packaging was very basic it came with a cardboard folder very simple and basic.I would recommend if you are planning the leave the coins inside but beware it is very difficult to put inside!

I have a metal detector and use these folders as a way of storing my finds. It's relatively easy to complete a collection from coins you receive in change. A little harder to find them several inches deep in the ground.This is an excellent way to get kids started in coin collecting. Unlike the folders from when I was a kid, these folders do not require you to purchase proof "s" mint coins in order to complete the collection.Highly recommended.

Pros:Coins for this collection are very widely available making it the perfect starter kit for kids or casual collecting.Fairly recent end date if you're not too concerned about having to label each new issue.Cons:Some pennies required substantial effort that the entire page bent in order to fully insert the coin. Wasn't too much of a concern for the duller older coins but the pressure from my fingertips could stain the newer ones a bit early.If you're up for a little challenge, you can look up the differences between the varieties of 1982 copper and zinc pennies (they have every variety, apparently) so you can be sure you're adding each kind even if they look the same.

the three folders cover 1909-1940, 1941-74, 1975-2013, was great. What made this perfect was that the Lincoln cent folder #4 made it where his grand kids when putting the pennies in the slots they can go for a few more years, so thanks from me and my friend. cliff

This review contrasts the H. E. Harris folder and the standard blue Whitman folder, both published by Whitman Books. Since both folders cover similar collections and both are published by Whitman Books, one question naturally arises, are there any significant reasons to favor one folder over the other? The answer is yes, and I believe that the differences favor the Harris folders.The standard Whitman folders have exteriors made of paper and the back of these exterior paper covers also provide the back for the coins inserted in the interior. On the-other-hand the front covers of this folder as well as the inside back covering for the coin slots of the H. E. Harris & Co. "Lincoln Cents Starting 1975" folder is heavily plasticized. This folder has three pages, each page providing 30 coin slots. There is a total of eighty-two designated (identified) slots, in my folder purchased in 2010, that have printed slot descriptions from "Memorial Reverse" and 1975 through 2009-D with slots for all eight versions of the 2009 cent. Eight additional slots are also provided but not designated.Perhaps because of its plasticized covers the Harris folders are slightly thicker. In one case, with a standard Whitman blue folder I inadvertently placed too much pressure in removing a coin from the folder and the paper punctured. This would appear much more unlikely in the case of the plasticized exterior of a Harris folder. Additionally, the plasticized finish means that the exterior of these folders are much easier to keep clean. The Harris folders also have a light-toned interior background compared to the medium-blue background of the Whitman books. This makes the printed coin information easier to read in a Harris folder.Conclusion. The plasticized finish of the Harris folders makes them sturdier, and easier to clean. Their lighter background makes the printing easier to read. Their slightly thicker size and larger spine printing makes them easier to distinguish on a shelf.

My son who is 4 years old loves to look at his Dads coin collection so I bought this thinking he would like it. He loves It! Folds up so u can stack in on the bookshelf and not take up a ton of room. Easy to interest pennies into proper spot. If a 4 year old can do it anyone can! Nice product

Nice for what it is. Seems to hold up well and is easy to use. The coins can be inserted easily and hold well if push in firmly. Maybe even a step above others that I may have seen. I would definitely recommend this product for beginners and intermediate users alike.
